Memorial Day Weekend (May 23rd through May 25th), Charles and I headed to
Snowden Grove for the 2nd annual Delta Country Jam.
The festival was moved from Tunica to Southaven, so Charles and I arrived early Friday evening and were lucky enough to find seats instead of having to sit on the lawn all evening...
We caught the end of Chris Lane's set...
and saw the Bluesmasters...
even though it featured Mickey Thomas, I thought the female vocalist and
the harmonica player were the best of the band...
Jon Pardi then took the stage...
and by the time he closed with "Up All Night,"
the crowd had filled in, and we were on our feet...
Florida Georgia Line then took the stage!
They put on an energetic performance...
and played everything from "Round Here" and "Here's to the Good Times"
to "Get Your Shine On" and "Tip It Back"...
and, of course, "This is How We Roll"...
and "Cruise"...
fgl put on a terrific show
What a fun opening night of Delta Country Jam!!
Charles and I headed back to Snowden on Sunday, May 25th.
Charles was a good sport, but I just couldn't make him sit through three days of country music!
We arrived in time to get a good seat for the opening act, The Cadillac Three...
These Southern rockers put on a great show!
During their show, we had to put up with a few sprinkles,
but the skies cleared up and we had nice, albeit a little warm, weather there on out!
Their album, "The Cadillac Three" is great, and they sounded great live too...
They had fun on stage and interacted with the crowd...
They opened up with "I'm Southern" and ended their set with "The South" - two of my favs!
A fun band to watch and a great opening to the day!
I wanted to arrive in time to catch The Cadillac Three, and it made no sense to leave and come back before Cole Swindell, the third performer on the lineup, performed, so we stayed for Charlie Worsham's performance, and I am so glad that we did!
This young guy from Grenada, Mississippi, is a phenomenal live performer!
He had some cute and catchy songs...
and really played to the audience!
He got the audience involved,
came out into the crowd,
and signed just about everything imaginable for his fans -
really fun to watch!!
And he is a talented musician as well...
I'm really glad we stuck around to catch Charlie Worsham's performance.
Cole Swindell then took the stage...
I just really like him!
He performed a lot of songs from his album, including "Let Me See Ya Girl,"
"Hope You Get Lonely Tonight," Ain't Worth the Whiskey," "Hey Y'all," and "Swayin'"
and even threw in some George Strait "Check Yes or No."
He ended his set with "Chillin' It" and had everyone on their feet!
Scotty McCreery took the stage next...
While he performed, Charles and I found the greatest vendor trailer,
and Charles enjoyed some delicious fried catfish and fries
while I enjoyed some really good bbq nachos!
Scotty McCreery is a really good performer...
but I was excited when his set ended...
because that meant it was time for Dierks Bentley to take the stage!
By the time he took the stage, the amphitheater was packed!
And he certainly did not disappoint his many fans - his performance was fantastic!
He opened with "5-1-5-0" which set the energy for the show!
He played his older hits:
"Free and Easy," "Every Mile and Memory," "Lot of Leavin' Left to Do," "Up on the Ridge" and "Sideways"
along with "Come a Little Closer" and "What was I Thinkin'" which even Charles joined in singing!
And kept everyone singing along to "Am I the Only One," "Tip it on Back," and "Drunk of a Plane."
He covered some One Republic with "Counting Stars" and my favorite cover of Avicii's "Hey Brother."
And, of course, he performed "I Hold On" which I absolutely love!
He ended the show with "Riser," and what a show it was!
A great performance and a perfect end to Delta Country Jam!
We had a blast!!
