So the weathermen all week have been saying that we would get snow today - 01-09-11. Usually when they are just so sure of it, it somehow eludes us. Mama called around 3:00 this
afernoon and said that it had been sleeting which had turned to snow in
Batesville. I was a little worried because nothing was happening in Hernando. However, I didn't have to wait long until the sleet started here. I called Mama back, a little disappointed, to report that we were getting just sleet. She told me that was how it started in
Batesville too that it should turn to pure snow in a while. Well, I shortly noticed a few flurries mixed into the sleet. And then...
Around 4:30 this afternoon, the sleet stopped, and we started getting pure snow flurries...
I was so excited to see the snow!
The snow started coming down even heavier...
by 5:00...
and even started accumulating a little...
By 6:00 it was still coming down...
Charles and I had to get our picture with the first snow of 2011!
It kept snowing, and at 6:30 we already had some accumulation...
by 7:30, we had even more accumulation - it was getting harder to see grass through the snow...
and by 8:30, we had even more accumulation...
I just love the way snow looks on the shrubbery...
and best of all, it's 8:45 and STILL SNOWING!!
It is supposed to continue to snow overnight, and we are supposed to get between 3 and 6 inches. Sure hope the weathermen are right about that because Charles has a snow day tomorrow!
