Decorating for Christmas...

The day after Thanksgiving, we began decorating the house for Christmas. Charles brought down the Christmas tree, and I turned on the Christmas music and added ribbon to the tree... The first ornament on the tree was the Christopher Radko ornament Mama gave us at Thanksgiving - I just love it!Then all the other ornaments were hung on the tree...
I always enjoy remembering the story of each ornament - which vacation it came from, who gave it to us, etc.
After the living room tree was decorated, it was time to decorate our bedroom Christmas tree with all the ornaments Charles and I have painted...It's our Charlie Brown Christmas tree that we had when we first got married, and I just love it and all the ornaments on it!After the tree was decorated and some presents were added, I wanted to take Toula's picture under the tree. Well, Toula really does not like being picked up and held, so she already was not too happy about being picked up and carried to the tree. We snapped this picture really quickly...
which was good because Toula looked around, sniffed a present or two...
and hopped right back over to the living room rug...
I've tried to get her to stay under the tree a time or two and bribed her with treats, so now any time we walk past her and reach down to rub her, she gets really anxious not wanting to have to go back under the tree! Poor Toula!!

After the Christmas trees were decorated, I hung the stockings... and decorated the mantle...
with Nutcrackers, including our new Mississippi State Nutcracker... and Santas...
And then I moved to the entryway...
and Charles did a great job helping me secure the bow on the mailbox...
He also was in charge of lighting the little Christmas tree...
In the entry way, we hung our mistletoe ball...
and got Bully all dressed for Christmas!!
and added a little Christmas to the entry way piece...
I was so excited; Ma's Christmas cactus was full of blooms this year. It had a lone bloom at Thanksgiving and then just exploded with beautiful pink flowers!
Wreaths were hung in Toula's area along with a snowman snow globe and a cute new MSU snowman...
and our Nativity... was placed on the Chinese chest in our living room so that we see it everyday...
I added the snowman candlestick Charles gave me to the end table...
added garland and Christmas touches to the bookcase, including Ma's Mr. and Mrs. Santa...
and brought out the bunny bell Daddy gave me years ago for its spot on the coffee table along with poinsettias and other little touches of Christmas...I made a snowman grouping in the living room too...It was hard finding an empty spot for Charles's fantasy football trophy, but since it is in the guest room, I thought a little sports tree was also needed in there!
I added candy canes...
a Christmas hand towel...
and Christmas tree in the guest bath...
We added a Santa face to Charles's Grandmother's chair... which also is the perfect spot for our sweet, cute Christmas cards!
I had to add a little Christmas to Ma's tea cart...
I had to find a special spot for the train...
and I think that the Etta B pottery was the perfect backdrop for it!

It just doesn't seem like the Christmas season until our breakfast table is set... with 'Tis the Season pottery...
and a few fun extras!
I added some snowmen to our little bunny...
In our bedroom, I added fun tinsel and Christmas balls to my dough bowl...
and finished off our tree...
with the Christmas ornaments Charles and I painted this year.
My snowmen ringing cowbells ornament...and Charles's Ring Responsibly Bell ornament...
I also added a small Nativity to our night stand...

Our bath got a snowman wreath and Christmas cactus...
Christmas candles...
a Christmas hand towel...
and a small Christmas tree...
During the following weekends, I made Christmas goodies which found their place on the kitchen island...
which was decorated with garland, candycanes, peppermints and gingerbread men garland...
Christmas touches were added throughout the kitchen, from the Christmas tree towel to the Christmas ornament around the Peter's monkey...
to Vietri and 'Tis the Season spoonrests and our cute gingerbread house...to Christmas spreaders...
and more 'Tis the Season... for Charles and I to enjoy eating from...
I added a poinsetta to my snowman pot along with a spreader and bubble light to our counters...
and Charles has done a great job with our countdown to Christmas snowman... I love when there are 8 days to Christmas left because Charles always makes a cute snowman for me!
I wanted to set our dining room table with the Christmas china plates Mama gave me last year, but I thought that we needed a clear table for dining, so instead I just stacked them on the table...along with some of our crystal plates and our feather trees...
Charles helped me hang our feather wreaths, and I added the garland, glittery coral and ornaments to our lighting fixture...and added a few more ornaments to our sideboard...

I had fun getting our house ready for Christmas and enjoy looking at all of the Christmas decorations each day!
