Football fun

Today John, Molly and Brady came over to watch some football with us.
Charles grilled some delicious hamburgers...
and we had chips, dips...
and fruit, strawberry squares, chocolate chip cookies and M&M's for dessert...
and lemonade, Kool-aid and other drinks to drink...
Molly brought her delicious cream cheese with peppery raspberry preserves for an appetizer - thanks Molly - I just love it!!
Brady wanted to play ball instead of just watching it, so we all went out to the backyard...
Brady already has his football face down!
He enjoyed throwing the football to Molly...
to John...
to me and to Charles...
Brady also really enjoyed playing with the soccer ball...

We had a great time playing ball with Brady and had a wonderful visit with John and Molly!

CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

This afternoon, Charles and I watched the Chicago Cubs vs the St. Louis Cardinals. What an exciting baseball game!
Going into the game, the Cubs' magic number was 1. We kept an ear open for the Brewers/Reds score and were, of course, rooting for the Reds. But it ended up that that game didn't matter, because the Cubs won!
With that win, the Cubs clinched the NL Central - for back to back years - and are in the post season!!
We had a great time watching the celebration at Wrigley...wish we were in Chicago tonight!!

Friday Night Football

Last night, Charles and I went to Batesville to watch the South Panola Tigers take on the Apopka Blue Darters.
We met Molly and John at the game...thanks Miss Suzanne and Mr. Jimmy for the great tickets...and had a wonderful time!
It was perfect football weather - just a little crisp coolness in the air.
We got there early and waited for the 7:00 kickoff - a little earlier than usual because the game was being broadcasted on ESPNU.
After the coin toss, it was time to meet the Tigers...

Both teams - and both defenses -played really well. Our defense had a few huge stops which helped out our offense and let the X Factor, Xavier Lee, make a couple of big plays too...
After the band performed the halftime show, we were surprised with fireworks!!
It was a great and exciting game...and best of all, the Tigers won!!
GO SP!!!

Happy Birthday...

Charles!!
Today Charles turned another year older, so to start off the day on the right note, he got to open one of his presents before going to work...

I think this first present was his favorite!!
We went to eat catfish in Oakland. Mama and Jerry went too and treated us, so now Charles has another birthday lunch or dinner at the restaurant of his choice on me. The fish was delicious as usual; we had a great dinner!
After dinner, we went back to Mama and Jerry's for Charles to open his presents, and then headed back to Hernando so Charles could open his other presents from me and from Toula...

Charles had a birthday delivery at school from his Mom, so he has been quite busy opening presents all day!

Happy Birthday Charles! Hope it was a great one!!

Welcome Holden James Daleke...

This morning, Cliff and Robin welcomed Holden to their family.
Charles and I went to the hospital this evening to meet him...
He is the so sweet and cute. He has the best and smoothest complexion and his fingers are so soft. I got to be a little baby hog this evening. He slept the whole time I held him. He stretched just a couple of times and put his cute little hands under his chin and then over his face...
When I first saw him, I thought he looked just like his older brother Will. Katie and Will met their little brother earlier today, and we got to see them both for just a little while before they went home. I am glad to say that the whole family is doing great!

No-No...

Charles and I had to take a break from football to watch ESPN pre-empt the White Sox game with the 9th inning of the Cubs game...and watched Carlos Zambrano throw a no hitter!
How perfect, Big Z (coming off shoulder problems) throws a no no and the Cubs win in a game against the Astros played at Miller Park, home of the Brewers with the Southsiders' game getting pre-empted!!
GO BIG Z and GO CUBS GO!!!

Meeting Collins

Today, Charles and I went with Molly and John to visit Dan and Courtney and meet Collins. He is the sweetest little baby!
Collins was wide awake and waiting to see us when we arrived. We went in and saw his cute little nursery. While we were in the nursery, Collins kept giving us the cutest little smiles!
After being passed around a little he went to sleep - while I was holding him -- so I got to be a little bit of a baby hog today! After Collins woke from his nap, Molly had to hold him just one more time before we left...We all had a wonderful visit with Dan and Courtney and really enjoyed seeing Collins!

Happy Labor Day...

and it could not have come at a better time for me. This past week has been hectic to say the least. However, it wasn't all work and no play.

Molly and I met for our weekly tennis game, and as we were finishing up, we got a nice surprise. Charles came up to the courts and brought each of us a strawberry snow from the Dip...It was really good! And the perfect complement to our post game visit and gossip session!

Last night we enjoyed a delicious dinner courtesy of the Bienvenus! Molly made a wonderful cream cheese, peppery raspberry preserves appetizer followed with a delicious meal of crescent chicken, pineapple casserole, butter beans and home made rolls...and for dessert, fudge pie topped with whipped cream! Charles and I both really enjoyed dinner! And we both really enjoyed visiting with Molly, John and Brady!

Brady was so cute, as soon as we walked through the door, he ran to us to give Mae Mae and Charles a hug - and even better, he just kept on giving out hugs throughout the evening! He brought out his favorite bunny rabbit, and let us know that rabbits go "Boing, boing" and also told us what many other animals and cars and trains do and say! He is just too cute and so sweet!!! We had a wonderful evening- thanks Bienvenus!
