Fat Tuesday

To celebrate Mardi Gras, I decided to cook a Cajun dinner...and managed a bit of gold and green (but no purple) in the serving pieces.Everything turned out really good! We enjoyed crawfish dip with toasted baguette rounds...

Gumbo and French bread...The gumbo was really good with a mixture of chicken, andouille sausage, shrimp and crawfish.
The recipe was from the New Orleans Cooking School that Charles and I attended during our last trip to New Orleans. Harriet, our teacher, definitely taught me how to make a good gumbo!!


And to complete the meal, king cake cupcakes...

Happy Valentine's Day 2012!!

Around mid morning, a delivery arrived at my office...

They just made my day!!

Because Coach Willoughby had baseball practice this afternoon, we weren't able to go out to enjoy Valentine's dinner at a restaurant. I decided to cook and make a special dinner in instead.
We enjoyed a spinach and butter lettuce salad...
champagne chicken pasta...
and for dessert, strawberries Romanoff topped with red velvet crumble cookies...
Everything turned out great, and we enjoyed a delicious and nice dinner without having to fight any crowds!
