Grizzlies Game

Tuesday evening, Charles got to enjoy his Valentine's present. Charles and I had dinner at the Neeley's Interstate Bar-B-Q then headed to the Fed Ex Forum...to watch the Grizzlies take on the Lakers in a re-match. It was a give-a-way evening, so we both got Grizzlies flags to wave! On our way to our seats, I ran into two Grizzlies players and just had to have my picture taken with them...

He, he, he! :)

Charles and I made our way down to our seats, which were great!
We made it just in time to watch the warm-ups... Our seats were on the visitor's bench end and close enough to really get a good look at the players. During warm-ups, we got a good look at Lamar Odom and the other Lakers...
and during the game, Charles got a great up close look at many of his fantasy basketball players.
After warm-ups, we listened to the boos as the L A Lakers were announced - I just had to join in on the boos for Kobe, that punk, and we joined in the cheering for the Memphis Grizzlies...The Lakers huddled around Phil Jackson...
and the Grizzlies got their last minute game plans in order...
Beginning with tip off,
it was such an exciting game...
At half-time we were entertained by a painter who painted to music - his painting of Randolph, complete with headband was actually pretty good, and at time-outs we were entertained by the Grizzlies dancers made up of kids, the Grizzlies mascot and even Jerry "The King" Lawler!

The Grizzlies played a good game, so there was a lot for me to cheer about...
Before the game was over, I made sure to get a picture of the Gasol brothers!
The Grizzlies were leading with just a couple of minutes to go, but missed free throws and untimely fouls led to a loss. Although the outcome wasn't what I had hoped for, we still enjoyed the game and had a fun evening!

Valentine's Day Snow!

Since Charles has been a little under the weather, he and I had a restful and relaxing Valentine's Day. I love the pottery bud vase and other Valentine's he gave me... and I know that we will enjoy the tickets I gave him - Grizzlies vs. Lakers. Last night, we watched Valentine's Day - it was a cute movie. When we went into the theater, it was raining, but when we came out we had a nice surprise - it had snowed! Snow was covering the ground and parked cars and snow flurries were still coming down. They quickly stopped, but we had such a pretty snow blanket waiting for us when we got home...

The snow was still covering the ground this morning and everything was so pretty. It got even prettier around lunch time when we got even more snow!

We have had snow flurries on and off all day. This morning, we had just a little flake here and there, but during the afternoon, we had lots of flurries! They were huge and alternated between almost stopping and coming down and swirling so that it seemed like we were in a snow globe! Of course, I had to have our picture taken in the snow!! I was so excited because the flakes just kept falling...
and falling...
and falling!
It was so pretty!

I decided that while it was snowing, we needed to take Toula out. She has played in the snow on the ground before but has never been out while it was snowing, so I bundled her up and took her outside...
We had to have a family picture in the snow!
Then I carried her out further in the yard...and placed her in the snow...She wasn't too sure of what was going on...
She got a little curious about all the fluffy white flakes falling from the sky...
but she did not run and hop in it. She doesn't care for the cold and snow too much, but she is just so cute in it!
She was only out for a little while and then it was back inside to her warm home for her! Since she was such a good girl outside today, she's getting extra run and play time in the living room tonight!

Snow Bunny...

So we weren't too smart with the placement of our snowman...right in the rainwater drainage path! By the evening of the 8th (the day we got so much snow) our snowman looked more like he was surfing!
and by that night, the rain and water had practically killed our snowman...
He looked so sad...

With about six inches of snow on the ground, that was just way too much to let Toula out in - she would have been covered! This morning, we still have a little snow, and the sunshine the last few days has helped dry up the ground (a little), so today, Toula got to be a snowbunny!

I don't think she liked it too much though! As soon as I put her down, she hopped to the grass not covered in snow...and did her running and hopping on the grass instead of on the icy snow...I wanted a picture of our cute Toula surrounded by white, pretty snow, but this is as close to that picture as I got!
She had a great time running back and forth and hopping and enjoying the sunshine!!
I tried to get my picture one more time and put her in the middle of the snow...

But not only did she immediately hop to the grass, she also would not face me for any more pictures this morning!!

Snow Day!

This morning (Feb. 8th) Charles woke me up by saying, "You have got to come look at something." I was so excited when I realized that that something was snow!!

Around 5, 5:30 this morning, the snow was really coming down...
Huge flakes were falling, and they were falling fast...Snow had already accumulated an inch or two...At 6:30 a.m., the huge flakes were still falling...They slacked off, then fell fast again, then slacked off some more, but by then, everything was blanketed with a heavy layer of snow...Around 8 this morning, our house looked so pretty with all the snow...our whole street did!I was ready to play, so Charles came outside...and measured the snow...
6 inches!!!We decided to build a snowman, so Charles started rolling its body...
and rolled it to the front yard...The base was huge, so he just tumped it over to the ground...
Whew! Those snow balls were really heavy, so Charles came back and rolled mine the rest of the way to the front...
After a few attempts to heave the middle onto the base - I'm sure we looked pretty funny trying! - and after a few ideas to ramp the middle onto the base with a shovel didn't work, Charles broke the middle into two sections, and we finally got the middle on the base! We added a head, and then it was time to give our snowman some personality!
Our first snowman dress up idea was a SP baseball snowman...
We used badminton birdies for the eyes, covered, of course, with goggles and oreos for the mouth.
I think Coach Willoughby might need to keep a space open for him! Charles then decided we should have a snow on the ground snowman, so he turned the hat sideways and we decided to put masking tape over the oreo teeth for his gold teeth - He turned out too cute!
I decided that I wanted a turn to make the snowman an MSU snowman, so I got our flag and a MSU cap, and Charles brought out oranges for his eyes, a carrot for his nose, and a banana for his mouth - He turned out cute too!
Charles and I with our MSU snowman masterpiece (?)...
We brought out our MSU chair, and Charles decided it needed a little snowman in it, so he built a baby snowman, and I helped with the face...
Aww, our little snow family!!I though the snowbaby was so cute!
MSU fans all around!

After finishing our snowman, we decided to see if this was a sledding snow...
It WASN'T!!!

We then finished up our snowball fight. Charles started it by clocking me in the head with a snowball while I was walking to the street to take a picture of our snowfamily. I chased him into the garage with a snowball, but my aim isn't all that great, so I hit the wall instead of Charles! Well, after my attempts at sledding, I brought a snowball back down the hill with me and hit Charles squarely with it!
We both got in quite a few great shots, and Charles also got in some great dodges! We were covered with snow from head to toe (Charles even had an ear full of snow) by the end of our fight! Charles just couldn't resist extending our snowball fight during my timed picture!
We had such a fun morning playing in the snow!!
