4th of July and a Wedding - July 4th and 5th

Charles and I traveled to Birmingham for a very special celebration - Kiki's wedding!!
The wedding was on the morning of July 5th, so we traveled on July 4th.

We made it to Birmingham on the afternoon of the 4th, and decided to stop by the Statute of Liberty at the Boys Scouts Headquarters.
We had lots of fun walking around...
and managed to get some patriotic pictures...
Even though it was July 4th, we decided to forgo bbq and instead enjoyed dinner at the
Superior Grill.  You just can't go wrong with those delicious steak fajitas!

We had heard about Thunder on the Mountain and decided to watch the firework show...
The firework show was spectacular...
We met some really "interesting" people as well!
The fireworks are coordinating to music which is broadcast on several radio stations.  Several cars in the area were tuned into those stations, and the highlight of the evening had to be the finale -- which was to Sweet Home Alabama.
The Roll Tide Roll chants had Charles and me in giggles, but I have to say that those chants were better than the sporadic War Eagle calls we heard!

The next morning, Charles and I traveled to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens...
where we witnessed the beautiful wedding of Kristi and John!
Kristi was a gorgeous bride, and the ceremony was perfect for them!

Molly, Kristi, and I had a great visit at the reception...
The brunch foods were all delicious, but the grits bar complete with shrimp etouffee as a topping!

We had a wonderful trip to Birmingham and are so happy we could share in the beautiful day with John and Kristi House!!
