Na-Nu, Na-Nu

Last night, Charles and I saw Robin Williams at the Orpheum... We had a great time!! We (along with everyone else in the theater - and it was packed as the show sold out quickly -- we bought our tickets just a couple of hours after they went on sale, and we were in the Upper Gallery - only a few rows down from the top seat in the house - the seats actually weren't that bad though - we were able to see just fine and were able to hear everything) were both laughing pretty much the entire time he was on stage - 1 1/2 - 2 hours. While he did mention Mork once (I loved watching Mork and Mindy), he never said those two little words - na-nu, na-nu. His routine was great- funny yet topical, relevant and intelligent, and he was a wonderful, energetic performer.
After the show, we ran into Robin and Cliff who also really enjoyed the show. It was great to see them and catch up a little!

While pretty much everything he did and said was hilarious, Charles and I especially enjoyed a joke he did about restless leg syndrome and how what does it do, cause you to break out in Riverdance - at which point he broke into an Irish jig...this was too funny because just Sunday, Charles and I were at the Orpheum watching Riverdance being performed on that same stage!

We had a great time at Riverdance too. I just love watching Irish dance, but it coupled with the story and music - the musicians were outstanding! - was amazing!! I am so glad that we were able to catch a performance of their last tour.

Fish and Flowers

Yesterday, we joined Mama and Jerry for Jerry's belated birthday dinner. We had a great visit and enjoyed the dinner! Charles was really excited that Jerry chose to go to Country Catfish in Oakland!!
The daffodils were blooming and beautiful in their yard, so we picked some for our house! Mama had picked some for her kitchen and had them in her little Peter's pottery vase. They looked just so good in that vase, that I decided to put mine in the little Peter's pottery vases Charles gave me too...Mama and Jerry have so many different varieties, and they are all so pretty...
We picked so many that I had enough for the living room and our bedroom...
They have made our house look and smell (they smell so sweet) like Spring!
Thanks for the blooms and the bulbs!!

Valentine's Weekend

Charles and I had a wonderful Valentine's Weekend!
It actually started on Thursday evening. Molly and I are taking sewing classes which are on every Thursday evening in February. They are actually quite fun, and we are doing pretty good on the sewing machines, if I do say so my self! Well, Thursday when I got home from work, I had the best surprise waiting for me on our patio...
Charles had prepared a delicious pasta dinner and had even cut up strawberries for dessert! Even better, he suspended the one of us cooks and the other one cleans up rule and cleaned up everything too!!
Friday, Mama and Jerry treated us to dinner at Como Steakhouse, which, of course was delicious.
When we arrived back home, Charles brought out these beautiful Big Fun roses and placed them on our breakfast table for me to find...They are beautiful!!
and smell so good...
We decided to dine in on Valentine's evening this year. We enjoyed a steak with Gorgonzola sauce, mushrooms, baked potato, and French bread...
The steak and sauce recipe was by the Barefoot Contessa and turned out great!
For dessert, we enjoyed individual strawberry trifles...
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day evening!
Valentine's weekend continued yesterday when Charles agreed to watch He's Just Not Into You with me...
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's too!

Girls' Weekend

Friday, Molly and I headed to Birmingham to meet Kristi for a girls' weekend...we had a wonderful time!!
After arriving, seeing Kristi's cute apartment and visiting for a while, we headed to The Cheesecake Factory for a delicious and fun dinner. The weather was beautiful all weekend, and we were able to enjoy it by dining on the heated patio -- although at one point the heated patio felt a little more like a sauna!! We enjoyed a piece of their 30th anniversary cheesecake for dessert- delicious!!
After dinner, we enjoyed browsing Pottery Barn Kids for nursery linens for Molly then headed back to Kristi's for a fun late-night talk!
We started Saturday off at Sephora having our make-up done which was lots of fun...

We then shopped some more at the Summit which is always fun and enjoyed a late but delicious lunch at P. F. Chang's. After resting a bit, we went to Sips 'n Strokes...
where we were taught to paint a painting...

A work in progress...
After painting according to instructions, I had to take just a little creative license and add a bit more red and many more poppies to my painting...
Although I don't think that we are master artists yet, our paintings all turned out pretty good, and we definitely enjoyed the experience; we had the best time!

After we enjoyed the breakfast Kristi baked for us, Molly and I headed back to Mississippi, but we certainly enjoyed our visit with Kristi and our fun-filled girls' weekend!
